The downside of a Brazilian Blowout, has high amounts of formaldehyde and other harsh chemicals when heated. The formaldehyde gas is released into the air causing skin irritations, burning eyes and throat, asthma attacks and nose bleeds which can be extremely harmful for you and your stylist. As for the quality of your hair, the Brazilian Blowout is similar to the Japanese straightening treatment! Both leave your hair feeling amazing after the first month but once the product starts to rinse out, the quality of the hair is limp and brittle because of the harsh amounts of formaldehyde.
